Robert Cornthwaite says he will do everything in his power to force his way into Australiaᄀᆵs World Cup
squad.
The 28-year old centre-back, currently with South Korean side Chunnam Dragons, has played for the Socceroos on eight occasions but is hoping he can string some solid months together in order to win a surprise call into Ange Postecoglouᄀᆵs roster for Brazil 2014.
ᄀᄚThe World Cup
is a few months away and the clock is ticking and people are running out of time,ᄀᄆ Cornthwaite told au.fourtfourtwo.com.
ᄀᄚBut until that squad is named in May, Iᄀᆵll be doing everything I can to get my name in there. The only way to do that is to start playing here regularly and playing well.
ᄀᄚThe K-League is a really competitive league, a high standard, so if Iᄀᆵm playing regularly thatᄀᆵll help. Itᄀᆵs always encouraging to see Wilko (Jeonbuk Hyundaiᄀᆵs Alex Wilkinson) or (Shandong Luneng) Ryan McGowan
, in China, get selected to know the selectors are watching.
ᄀᄚFingers crossed but even if things donᄀᆵt work out for the World Cup
, Iᄀᆵve still got my eye on the (2015) Asian Cup. Iᄀᆵm only 28 so I still feel like Iᄀᆵve got something to offer the Australia set-up if I get the chance.ᄀᄆ
