captain Gary Mabbutt has urged patience from fans.
Spurs face missing out on the top four this season.
Mabbutt told talkSPORT: "It is a work in progress. Our latest acquisitions - the seven or eight players we signed last summer - have been at the club for the last six months.
"All of us want things to happen immediately, but it doesn't happen that way in football. Look at Liverpool
. They were successful throughout the 80s, they have had a bit of a lull over these few years, but suddenly now they are developing, building up, and coming back to full strength. That is where we are at the moment."
